Finding A Great Package Deal For Holidays In Europe

Package deals are often one of the best ways to bag yourself a relaxing break in Europe – there isn’t always a need for a stressful long haul flight, whether you want some much needed sunshine or just want to explore a place you’ve never seen before. Despite the rising costs of flights, its still possible to enjoy leisure travel with friends and family without breaking the bank.

There are many ways to find yourself a great deal; scouring the internet for cheap airfares for a few hours often turns up some cheap fares if you are willing to travel on flights at undesirable times or in low demand as airlines often struggle to fill these and you can get a great bargain on them – this is alright for some, but then you have to go through the same process again finding a rental car and accommodation and very quickly your wish for a brief respite from the stress of daily life can become a daunting task in itself.

The best bet is to look around for package deals which offer everything you need, from transport to a place to sleep. You may think that organising everything yourself can work out cheaper, but this isn’t always the case and even when it is, a package holiday can make everything run far more smoothly and reduce the worry associated with holiday planning, too. A little searching can turn up some really great deals, and taking holidays during the months when families tend to stay home as their children are at school is a great option for those without children themselves - you can snap up even lower fares if you choose to take a trip during term time.

Taking a holiday should never be a stressful experience for any of those involved – delayed flights and long queues at the airport are enough, there is no need to worry about other details too when the only thing you really want is to relax and escape for a while on a leisurely break.

Business Travel Made Easy With E – Tickets

As of June 1st 2008 business travel could not be easier for passengers as they no longer have to worry about losing their tickets before their flight. From now on all airlines who are members of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) will only use electronic tickets for passengers checking in. This group makes up 94 percent of all airlines so therefore traditional paper tickets being used is going to become a rarity.

The use of e – tickets is no doubt going to make life a lot easier for many people, especially those who do a lot of business travel. Normally when your tickets come through you put them in a safe place but sometimes this is done so far in advance that by the time is comes to your travel date you have forgotten where you put your tickets. Whether you eventually find them or not it is a very stressful experience because there is absolutely no chance of getting on any flight without a ticket.

The majority of people who go on business travel don’t even book their own tickets as there is normally somebody else within the company who organises this. This can make it very difficult for the person who is actually flying to get the tickets if they are not in the office before they leave for their journey. However, with e – tickets this does not matter because all the information that is needed will be stored on the computer when you go to check in.

There are various other reasons why many airlines have decided to use e – tickets now rather than traditional paper tickets. As there is now more pressure than ever before for companies to be more environmentally friendly, not needing paper tickets anymore is going to be very beneficial to the environment. It is estimated that 50,000 trees can be saved every year simply by not needing to print tickets. As flying is constantly criticised for its contributions towards global warming environmentalists should be happy that so many airlines are doing whatever they can to help protect the environment now.

Regardless of whether people are going on business travel or holiday it is highly likely that everyone is going to benefit from the benefits of using e – tickets. However, it’s not just the passengers who are likely to benefit from these advantages because airlines are going to save billions of pounds worth of money when this new system has been introduced.

New check – in times at UK airports

All passengers who fly from Heathrow and Gatwick Airport have been advised to make themselves familiar with new check in times that have been introduced at the airports. On the 28th October 2007 British Airways introduced a new minimum check – in time of 45 minutes to help make passengers’ journeys through the airports quicker and easier.

There are many reasons as to why British Airways have introduced this new system but it is mainly to benefit their customers. Having a consistent check – in time ensures that travellers always know how much time they should allow themselves to go through this process.

All passengers should be aware of the fact that all British Airways and Great Britain airport check – in desks, kiosks and bag drop desks at Heathrow and Gatwick Airport will close 45 minutes before the flight is scheduled to depart. However, online check – in is not affected and will continue to close 60 minutes before departure. Check – in times for flights from all other airports both in the UK and around the world remain unchanged.

Hand Luggage Restrictions

Hand luggage restrictions are constantly changing at airports across the UK so it can be hard to keep up with what you are and aren’t allowed to take on with you. Whereas the rules are pretty standard across all UK airports it is advisable to double check before flying because it can vary depending on your destination.

  • As of the 14th November 2007 hand luggage restrictions were loosened as the one bag rule was lifted. However, this doesn’t mean that all airports have honoured this and some may still enforce that you can only carry one bag so again, it is wise to check before leaving for the airport.
  • There are still hand luggage restrictions regarding travelling with liquids, creams, gels, pastes and aerosols. You are only allowed to take liquids in containers holding no more than 100 ml on board with you and they must be carried separately in a transparent, re – sealable plastic bag. There are a few exceptions to the rule including baby food or milk and medicines. However you may be asked for a doctor’s note to prove you need the medication for the flight so make sure you bring one with you.
  • Sharp or pointed items are strictly prohibited in hand luggage and will be confiscated at security control no matter what you need them for. Some of the more obvious things include knives, scissors and hypodermic needles unless required for medical reasons. However, some people don’t realise that things such as razor blades and certain toys will be confiscated if it is thought that they could cause harm.
  • Other hand luggage restrictions include no Christmas crackers, party poppers and non – safety matches. One cigarette lighter per person may be carried but any more will be taken away.
  • Many people are confused about how the hand luggage restrictions affect what you can buy at the airport. Once you have gone through security control anything you buy can be taken on board including alcohol, fragrances and cosmetics in sizes over 100 ml.
